Good morning New York City!

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I spent last week in New York City. What a city! The energy was great and despite their bad reputation, everyone was really friendly. My one disappointment was that I just never have enough time to see everything that I want. I’ll just have to keep going back.

Wait, summer, come back!

The storm is a doozy. My toes are still cold and damp. I miss summer.

Summer’s Over

Monday, October 12th, 2009

The first big storm of autumn is due tonight. The air is warm but feels sinister as the wind picks up. Time to batten down the hatches. *texture provided by www.regularjen.com

Uncle Chucklepants of the Accordion World

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

It’s kind of a bleak day today. Just the kind of day this guy who I named “Uncle Chucklepants” would probably enjoy. That is if he enjoyed anything. He looks rather miserable. I watched him for quite a while and he remained miserable. I should have asked this guy to join us for a pint.

Irving Penn, the Master

San Francisco’s LovEvolution ’09

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

October 3, 2009 was San Francisco’s version of Berlin’s Love Parade. Over the years there have been different versions of Love Parade and over the years there have been many changes as it has gotten more and more popular. Perhaps too popular? Or at least too big for the current space. The vibe was good [...]

Urban Fairey

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I’m a huge fan of street art/tagging/graffiti etc. When I saw this Shepherd Fairey, titled “Arab Woman” on the side of a wall in San Francisco last winter I was psyched. He and Banksy are my two favs. Fairey created that fantastic Obama poster we all remember from the campaign. He is the founder of [...]

Shanghai, San Francisco

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

I was wandering through San Francisco’s Chinatown last February and the colors on this wall and in the windows caught my eye. They were all just glorious. The blue panties hanging are the gem of the photo for me. Who hangs just one pair of panties? They must be pretty special.

Subway Pop Art

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

Again, playing with two images – both taken in the Powell Street station last February. Doesn’t it make you just want to pop the wall or am I the only one addicted to bubble wrap? I cannot resist.
